YAY TESSA FINALLY!!!  
I can finally, finally, finally shout this from the rooftops. One of my two critique partners ([info]everflame ) and my very dear friend and one of the three Merry Sisters of Fate has a book deal that went official today!!

From Publisher's Marketplace:

Tessa Gratton's debut BLOOD MAGIC, about two teens who meet in a cemetery and plunge into a dangerous world of dark magic, first love, and the deadly secrets that hide in blood, to Suzy Capozzi at Random House Children's, at auction, in a very good deal, in a two-book deal, for publication in summer 2011, by Laura Rennert at Andrea Brown Literary Agency (world).

I've read it, critiqued it, it's awesome, tight, bloody, eerie, and sexy. I'm so excited for her. Now all three of us Sisters are published and all is right with the world.

I remember when we first met and the project she was working on then. Started in a motel room with a spray of arterial blood . . . aww, makes me nostalgic.

GIANT CONGRATS TO TESSA!!!! I'm so proud to know her!

But I loved Sunset Motel. It wasn't perfect, but it sure was fun!

I had SO much fun writing it, too. It was a thrill, for sure. Serial-by-the-pants... not for the faint of heart. :D

BUT, calling someone and leaving a voicemail in which you *laugh hysterically at them* for their choice of metaphor beats . . . well, pretty much everything. Just thought I'd put that one out there ;)

Also, I had a neat thing happen in the school where I substitute teach today. I was in the halls inbetween classes, and one of the teenage girls came up to me and said, "I heard you know the author of SHIVER and LAMENT!!" I assured her that I knew you online, though I haven't had the chance to meet you in person. She flailed and said "Will you tell her I LOVE them?!?" I told her I'd be happy to do so, and then told her she should look for BALLAD, and told her it was the sequel of LAMENT. There was more flailing and excitement, she hugged me, and ran off to class.

So, to fulfil my commitment, Gabby loves your books and is off to buy BALLAD.

I know!!! I was flailing so hard I forgot to share the news of Shiver's film rights being purchased, but I think that would have made her faint.

Hell, I felt like a celebritty just for knowing you online! It was so cool!

Woo! Congrats to Tessa! I've been waiting for this to happen ever since I read her short story Familiar from the Merry Sisters Site! I'm shaking all over with excitement ... or possibly it's the caffine talking! I can't wait till the book hits the bookshelves!

YAY!! That is super awesome! Congrats to Tessa. =D So many fantastic books are coming out within the next few years. I've added this to my list of must reads. It sounds like it's right up my alley (or down my dark graveyard). =)
