The Great Ballad Contest Results
Okay, it's finally time to tally the results of the big Ballad contest! I have to say that this contest goes down as the only one that I have asked my readers to do something (apparently) illegal: take photos in bookstores. For all of you who were run out of stores by feral employees or couldn't find the book in time, I'm profoundly sorry.

For the rest of you who performed illegal acts in the name of sportsmanship and prizes, booyah!! We had over 250 entries, which is a lot of people photographed with Ballad. And we had two (I believe two, let me know if I counted wrong) entries that had over twenty people in a photo, which I said would get a special prize. And then I did a drawing amongst the folks who did entered by the first deadline, and there's a prize for that winner too (they were also all entered in the overall drawing). I numbered every entry and did a random number generator for the top prize first and then down for them.

So. Without further ado, here are the winners:

Winner of the signed audiobook of shiver is [info]arieleishen .

Winner of the stack of books and signed copy of Ballad is[info]tracy_d74

Winner of the swank messenger bag with the signed Maggie books in it is jb n becca.

And finally, winner of the first-chapter critique from all three of the Merry Sisters of Fate is [info]melenka !

Now I can hear the groans already, so remember there are three more prizes. First of all, I drew from the folks who made it by the original deadline and got [info]a_hoffman79 , who will get a signed copy of either Ballad or the Shiver audiobook (you pick).

And then there were two folks, lovethebooknook and Amanda Jirka, who got more than twenty people in a single photo, and I said that would be a special prize . . . so I'll do a 5-page critique for each of you guys. Not quite as good as the first chapter critique by all the Merry Sisters, but a little somethin'!

So congrats to everyone who won and thanks to everyone who entered! Winners, e-mail me your info! (Also, folks who are waiting on CDs from the last contest, they're going out this week).

Congratulations fellow winners. And to those critique winners . . .the audience eagerly awaits for you books to hit a local bookstore. You too can do a contest one day.

Congrats to the winners!

I was among those unable to find a copy of BALLAD despite logging miles on my car to drive both north and south in hopes of obtaining a copy and taking illegal photos (cause I would have done it!).

What a fun contest it was, and I really enjoyed trying to participate even though I wasn't able to. No regrets . . . I'm ordering my copy of BALLAD online now since I'm tired of waiting to find one. LOL

Heee . . . I had no idea how challenging I made it. Clearly I will have to test out the contest conditions before I set up the next contest!

In my continued attempts to pimp your awesome books, I called my county library system this morning to ask if I could donate books to their collection (which, in this case, will be my previously purchased copy of Ballad that I will no longer need since I just won the fabulous signed copy from you!). The head of their collections department was delighted, and she said they would route my copy into the collection as soon as they receive it!

I then pushed to check on their Shiver status, since I requested that it be added three months ago. She checked on it and said they had ordered 13! copies (one for each branch) but were back-ordered due to its low availability in the Southeast. Ballad is on order too. However, they should all be there soon. Yay for mo' better books in the library!

Congratz!
I am so unlucky! I had an almost one in three chance at winning and I didn't win any of them! But I am really happy for those who did win. I am excited about the 5 page critique! There isn't perhaps a place, like an independent bookstore, that sells your signed books is there? I really hope there is!

(PS to Maggie: I sent you an email about questions I had about the critique, but my address looks weird because it is a school account and sometimes gets sent to the junk mail. Would you please check to see if you have it? It starts with an s, a bunch of numbers and is from nwmissouri.edu Thanks!)

Re: Congratz!
I have it! It's starred for answer! You are amazingly unlucky -- you can ask my brother who was there as I was getting each winner from the random number generator, I was literally laughing out loud from shcok every time it missed you and your 74 entries!

Re: Congratz!
Well, I'm glad it provided some entertainment! And maybe some inspiration? A very unlucky character can provide a lot of comic relief! This isn't the first time that I should have been a shoe-in (is that the right spelling?) to win something and I didn't win. Not even close! But bad luck is better than no luck. At least I know Fate isn't ignoring me.

Re: Congratz!
If it makes you feel any better, I have never won anything by random chance EVER. My husband does all the time though!
