TEASER TUESDAY: LINGER!!!  
As promised, I'm revealing the cover and first paragraph of LINGER today. A little bit about LINGER, for starters -- it's the sequel to SHIVER, it's coming out July 20th, and it is about after. What happens after you discover there are werewolves in the wood, after you've fallen in love for the first time, after you've lost what you think you can't live without, after you've become someone you can't live with (and no, not all of these are talking about the characters you think they're talking about.)

It was also the easiest and hardest book I've ever written, coming off the heels of SHIVER's immediate and crazy success. I can only imagine that Chris, the cover designer, felt the same way I did writing LINGER when he was trying to design the cover for it, because the SHIVER cover was such a smashing success, how would he follow it?

And now, the first paragraph(s). I've been asked a couple of times if folks can repost either of these things on their blogs and the answer is an absolute YES I'D BE FLATTERED PLEASE DO!!! Okay . . . the first bit of LINGER:

This is the story of a boy who used to be a wolf and a girl who was becoming one.

Just a few months ago, it was Sam who was the mythical creature. His was the disease we couldn’t cure. His was the good-bye that meant the most. He had the body that was a mystery, too strange and wonderful and terrifying to comprehend.

But now it is spring. With the heat, the remaining wolves will soon be falling out of their wolf pelts and back into their human bodies. Sam stays Sam, and Cole stays Cole, and it’s only me who’s not firmly in my own skin.



Is it what you expected?!

Whoo Hoo! *happy dance* I didn't think it was even humanly possible to get anymore excited about LINGER, but I think I just did! Gorgeous cover! Awesome first paragraph. Thanks for posting this Maggie...it made my whole day!

That cover is absolutely beautiful.......Chris has done you proud, I love it!!!

And the first chapter, was not expecting that in a million years. But this has made me crazy sauce for this book. Amazing once again, and i'm off now to spread the linger love... <3

First, the cover is exquisite. I LOOOOVE IT!!!!

OMFG! I am sitting here Maggie squealing and literal shivers are running up my spine. That cover is GORGEOUS. I love the trees, the green, the outline of Grace, and the wolf who may be Sam or may not be. And fgjdgf. That paragraph is lovely too. I CAN'T wait for Linger! When is its release date again?

Also are you doing Mid-Winter ALA or BEA (again) 2010? Just wondering.

I've been waiting for this all morning!! Well worth the wait the cover is absolutely beautiful.
The teaser paragraph made me want this book out even more. I simply cannot wait for it to be released! I'll be counting down the days. :D

Wow! Thanks for sharing, Maggie. Will the words inside the book be in a lovely green as well (Like Shiver was blue)? I may have a tad trouble with seeing the words in green, though, being colorblind and all!

I think you should have written a longer first paragraph. Just saying! =)

It's stunning, I love it! So I have to ask, will the writing be a shade of green as well in the book? I loved how the blue theme was carried throughtout Shiver.

Awesome awesome awesome. Now here's hoping that my 4 year old and the baby on the way (in April) will allow me to read this book when it comes out. There are quite a bit on my TBR list for books coming out next year.. and LINGER is #1!!

omg, i feel like the biggest tool: can I admit to you that I NEVER noticed that there was a wolf silhouette on the cover of SHIVER? Once I saw the one on this I was like, WAIT.... and yep, there it was all along.

I wont read the first paragraph because after the first sentence, i realized it would possibly spoil SHIVER. (I suggest a cut-tag with a spoiler warning???!!! I still plan to read SHIVER!!)
