Square Peg. Camaro-Shaped Hole.
I am packing for my tour tomorrow (all dates and locations HERE) and I am beginning to think I might have some problems.

It began on Friday, when this arrived from my crazy and wonderful Scholastic publicist:

Apologetic list from Scholastic

And then the DHL man came and brought:

900 key chains
A few keychains.

About the same number of This is Teen flash drives

A few flash drives

And then the UPS man came later that day and brought yet more boxes which contained:

Tons of THE SCORPIO RACES post cards (which I'll be using a few of for Postcard to a Stranger on tour)

Post cards

Some This is Teen post cards

More post cards

Some stickers

Signed by stickers

Which wouldn't be a problem except I'm already bringing

a bunch of Linger tank tops to give away at the launch party in Tyson's Corner tomorrow.

Some LINGER tank tops

A bunch of wolf cut outs from the FOREVER trailer to give away at the launch party.

Wolf Cut Outs from the FOREVER trailer

Two Sharpie-d on guitars to give away, one at the launch party in Tyson's Corner, and one in Canada (for Canadians hoping to win the Sharpie guitar, you can enter to win it at all THREE Canadian locations, and they'll contact the winner after the events to give you the guitar)(seems fair, right?)

The Sharpie Guitars

Also, I am going to pick up this from the airport in a few hours, and it has to fit in too.

That's Tessa Gratton, my co-pilot for the first half of the trip.

So, minus Tessa, two boxes of foreign editions of Shiver for giveaway, my 17 black tank tops and 6 pairs of jeans that is my wardrobe, and all of my camera equipment for the videos of alpacas and ringing rocks and hilarity I will be making, this is kind of what the pile looks like.

Everything but the dog

Well, not the dog. But everything else.

And it must fit into here.

Packing the Car

Well, more precisely, here.

Things Must Fit In This Trunk

Oh, I can so make that work.

You can do it :) You forgot you'll need room for travel snacks!! LOL

Good luck but you should be fine! All the old muscle cars have a deceivingly small, but large trunks in general. Course, you also forgot to mention that you'll most likely be toting along Ms. Gratton's things as well. Seeing this car makes me miss Loki. He still doing well at least?

I believe in you, Maggie!!!!!!

Firstly, good luck lol! =]
Secondly (as canines are practically my life) that dog is absolutely gorgeous!
Lastly (I'm sounding rather repetitive now) I can't wait until you come over to the Uk! And until I get to read forever! I already have an alarm set to get up early on the day so I can be there when the shop opens! ^_^ xxxx

Clearly, you need a portable bag of holding ala Hermione Granger. I am positive Tessa must have one...

Have an awesome time giving away tons of beautiful stuff!
sc_pollocksc_pollock on July 11th, 2011 11:53 am (UTC)
Oh, that will all DEFINITELY fit in Loki! Ok, so Tessa and you may have to hold a guitar each whilst you drive, but that'll be comfortable enough, right? (I have a great mental picture of that right now!)

Any chance of any of those keychains making it across the pond to the UK? ;-)

You can do it, Maggie! Creative packing is all it takes. :) I really hope to be at the launch tomorrow night...it just may be closer to the end than the beginning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

Time to roll everything clothes related and stick them in some "creative" places. See you tomorrow at Tyson's!
besarahbesarah on July 11th, 2011 12:25 pm (UTC)
I say put it all in the trunk, then you(or your kids) can get on the trunk and jump till your trunk will shut. I didn't think I could get anymore excited. I was wrong!

When you leave out the dog, it's totally doable :)) Ugh, I so wish you were coming back through Boston!!!

It's the guitars that throw off the packing logic in my head.

Also. Monstrumologist is everything you said it would be. =)

You need to make some kind of contest in which people in LA (me) can get some of those wonderful keychains, stickers and postcards. :)

I agree with Cristina!

You can do it. Just take turns driving with Tessa, and strap whoever isn't driving to the roof. The windblown look is in.
designing_galdesigning_gal on July 11th, 2011 01:53 pm (UTC)
You can always lighten your load by mailing me a keychain. I will add it to my collection on my goal to reach world's longest chain of keychains. Problem solved.

No! I can't believe that I'm working on Saturday and won't be able to come see you in Toronto! I'll try to get off a bit early and come in the evening.

Good luck and have fun! :)

I have a hard enough time packing for sleepovers, I can't imagine trying to pack all of that. I have no idea how I'm getting all my stuff to college. You'll find a way to manage this, of course. You should post a picture once it's all packed so we can see your masterpiece!
☆★☆Natasha★☆★: Gloomy and Funnyyukinakid on July 11th, 2011 03:32 pm (UTC)
YES you can do it!! =D I can't wait to see you~~~ Plus the ironic part is that you'll be in Nashville right down the road to where I go to college and then you'll be in Georgia the next day. Just a warning, it's a 4 hour drive (give or take) from Nashville to Georgia and Mont Eagle is pretty precarious on some days. And you'll be going right by the place I rolled my car on the ramp from I-24 going into Chattanooga. If you see large black scratches on the ramp, (to the left of you) that was my car.

But other than that, no cops usually patrol that area usually. My lovely insider information. I make that trip back and forth to Nashville at least 30 times per year.

Malachi can't wait to see you~~~
authorwithinauthorwithin on July 11th, 2011 03:54 pm (UTC)
Yeah, good luck with that. Tessa will have to hold boxes on her lap . . . and so will you. Or maybe Tessa can hold a guitar and serenade you all the way. =D

Hope you have lots of fun times (and with Tessa as co-pilot, I'm sure you will). I look forward to pictures upon your return. =)

You've made all the packing that *I* need to do for my road trip come August seem less horrifying, haha. Good luck getting all that stuff to fit!

Hey,
So I was looking for preservative-free places to eat in Iowa along your route, like you asked. You'll probably be coming up I-35 from KC to the Twin Cities so you will probably pass through Des Moines and Ames.

In DM there are a few organic places to eat:
https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=des+moines+restaurants+organic&hl=en&prmd=ivnscm&source=univ&tbm=plcs&tbo=u&ei=GiYbTvCzPPGmsQLNn6HCBw&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=more-results&resnum=1&ved=0CDQQtQMwAA&biw=1259&bih=905 (the search for preservative-free didn't work so well)

There are also a few health-food stores, too:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&biw=1259&bih=905&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=health+food+market+des+moines&fb=1&gl=us&hq=health+food+market&hnear=0x87ee99a4c1611ee7:0x710028512691e4b2,Des+Moines,+IA&ei=NycbTsTFF46DsAKLu4TCBw&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&ved=0CAQQtgM

Sorry I couldn't be more help. My brother and SIL live there but they weren't much help. I'm over in Iowa City - 100 miles to the east, a bit out of your way but if your route heads that way let me know.
benreederbenreeder on July 11th, 2011 05:17 pm (UTC)
So, to sum it up in a movie line....you have to fit all of this...in that.
kskye1027 on July 11th, 2011 05:30 pm (UTC)

Everything will fit. Can't wait to see you in Williamsburg, VA.
